AUCKLAND: England swing bowler Stuart Broad claimed his 400th test wicket Thursday on the first day of the first cricket test against New Zealand.

Broad, playing in his 115th test, reached the milestone when he dismissed Tom Latham for 26 in New Zealand's first innings.

He became the 15th bowler in test history and the second Englishman after his new-ball partner James Anderson (522) to reach the 400-wicket mark.

Latham was caught by Chris Woakes at square leg when New Zealand was 92-2 in reply to England's first innings of 58, its lowest score against New Zealand.
