LONDON: Everton has completed the signing of Lewis Gibson from English Premier League (EPL) rivals Newcastle United, the club announced in a statement.

The 17-year-old defender has agreed to a three-year contract with the Blues and will link up with David Unsworth's U-23 squad, reports Efe.

Gibson was a regular starter in Newcastle's U-18 side last season and was promoted to their reserve team.

"Everton is a brilliant club and when the opportunity presented itself I wanted to be part of it," Gibson said on Thursday.

Gibson becomes the fifth summer addition to Everton's Premier League U-23 squad following the arrivals of defender Nathangelo Markelo, forwards Anton Donkor and Boris Mathis, and winger Josh Bowler.
