Marc Marquez wins Dutch Grand Prix, extends lead over Valentino Rossi

CHENNAI: Spaniard Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda Team edged out compatriots Alex Rins (Suzuki) and Maverick Vinales (Yamaha) to win the Dutch Grand Prix in Assen on Sunday.

After eight Grands Prix, Marquez has now won four and has opened up a 41-point lead in the standings over Italian Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) who was fifth yesterday.

His Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa struggled to find pace in the early phase and finished 15th, a press note said.

Marquez made his move in the closing stages, grabbing the lead and pulling away to win by 2.269 seconds.

"In last three laps I pushed with everything," Marquez said after the race.

Jorge Lorenzo, a former multiple world champion, finished seventh.
