HYDERABAD: TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the Nandamuri clan came under sharp criticism today for claiming that women were safe under the previous TDP regime.
Sarojini Devi, mother of late film actress Pratyusha, who was murdered during TDP rule, demanded that at least now the TDP chief should throw his weight to help unravel the truth behind her daughter’s killing. At the party’s ‘Yuva Garjana’ in Guntur a couple of days ago, Naidu, and Harikrishna and Balakrishna of the Nandamuri family, had claimed that women were never denied justice during the TDP rule. What Sarojini Devi wants to know is why the TDP regime could do nothing after her daughter was done to death when Chandrababu Naidu was chief minister.
“And the successor Congress Government has also failed me,’’ she said a press conference today.
“I joined TDP only after an assurance that I would get justice. Chandrababu Naidu knows everything about the killing and he was instrumental in wiping out all evidence,’’ she maintained.
She claimed that she was not criticising the Opposition leader at the behest of any party and clarified that she was not associated with any political party currently. She wondered how the accused, Siddharth Reddy, could secure a visa and fly out of the country when a case was pending against him in the High Court.
