HYDERABAD: TDP leader and former MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy, along with 50 TDP activists, formally joined the Congress party in the presence of APCC president D Srinivas at his residence here Sunday.

After he met Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy at his Camp Office, Sukhender Reddy reached PCC chief ’s residence to join the party.

Both leaders welcomed him into the party and the TDP leader said that he joined the Congress as he was inspired by the development programmes being taken up by the Congress at both the Centre and the State.

Replying to a question, PCC president said that he would contest from Nizamabad and dismissed the speculations about contesting from Malkajigiri or any other constituency in the city.

He, however, did not clarify whether he would contest from Assembly or Lok Sabha seat.

Meanwhile, Sukhender Reddy said, if directed by the party high command, he was ready to contest from any constituency in the region.

He added that he had quit the TDP because of the ugly internal politics in that party.
