HYDERABAD: The proceeds of the sale of Telangana Express, an audio album compact disc on the separate sttate movement, amounting to Rs 35,000, will be given away to the poor families of martyrs who died for the cause of Telangana.

Announcing this at the release of the audio CD here on Sunday, Praja Satta Welfare Society president Dharmasanam Bhanu Murthy, who wrote the songs, appealed to people to encourage musicians, writers and singers by refusing to buy pirated audio albums. “The Telangana Express audio CD is not targeted at any politician or individual. All the songs have been set against the background of the Telangana movement,’’ he said.

Music director Kanishka said the album contained a commentary and eight songs which were composed in a contemporary style. Most of the songs are on people who lost their lives in the struggle for Telangana.

Pidamarti Ravi, president of Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee (OU JAC), said, “Music and songs are very important for any movement, and the same goes for the Telanga movement. I appreciate Praja Satta Welfare Society for supporting and participating in the Telangana movement by releasing wonderful audio albums.” D Sujatha, convener of the women’s wing of the society, was also present.
