CBI slaps notices on stars, netas in Emaar case

Many VVIPs including AP Minister Geeta Reddy and actor Mahesh Babu were asked to explain purchase details of properties.

HYDERABAD: Going a step ahead in the investigation into the Emaar case, the CBI on Wednesday served notices on close to 100 VVIPs, including politicians and Tollywood stars, who own villas in the Emaar Boulder Hills township.

CBI sources said the VVIPs have been asked to explain the rates at which they have bought the villas and related details. Among those who own villas in the township include Industries Minister J Geeta Reddy, Kotagiri Suneetha, wife of Rajya Sabha MP KVP Ramachandra Rao, former PCC president D Srinivas, YS Vidya Reddy, wife of late YSR’s younger brother YS Sudheekar Reddy, Nara Brahmani, daughter- in-law of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, M Radha, daughter-in-law of senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu, Galla Padmavathi, daughter-in-law of Minister Galla Aruna Kumari, Kasu Prasada Reddy, famous doctor and son of former chief minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, G Manjula, daughter of super star Krishna, actor G Mahesh Babu and his wife Namrata Shirodhkar and former cricketer V Chamundeeshwarnath.

All those who were served notices are expected to meet CBI officials at the CBI headquarters at the earliest and present their version.

It is alleged that all of them purchased villas at concessional rates, causing a loss of thousands of crores of rupees to the State Government.
