KARIMNAGAR: About 36 celebration points (gaddelu) have been identified in Karimnagar district for the Sammakka-Saralamma jatara to be held from Feb 8 to 12, according to endowments department additional commissioner T Ramesh Babu.

The medical department is planning to hold special camps at all the 36 jatara points while the respective gram panchayat staff would provide drinking water facilities and maintain sanitation at the places.

Devotees unable to go to Medaram for the jatara would offer prayers at these points in the district.

Meanwhile, devotees, fearing shortage of jaggery (which is offered as gold to the goddesses in tulabharam) are purchasing it in advance and keeping it aside.

Heavy pilgrim rush is being witnessed at all bus stations ahead of the jatara.

It is a tradition for the tribal devotees to offer prayers at the Sri Rajarajeswara Swamy temple and bonalu at its associate temple Baddi Pochamma in Vemulawada before going to biennial Medaram jatara.
