HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Excise and Prohibition Mopidevi Venkata Ramana was today arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the disproportionate assets case related to Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

Following his arrest, Ramana sent in his resignation letter to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who forwarded the same to Governor E S L Narasimhan for acceptance.

Mopidevi was the Minister for Infrastructure, Investment and Ports under the then Chief Minister (late) Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

The allegation against Mopidevi was that he overlooked the decisions of the then Cabinet and extended several additional concessions and exemptions to Vanpic Ports Private Limited, resulting in heavy monetary loss to the exchequer.

Vanpic promoter Nimmagadda Prasad alias Matrix Prasad has already been arrested by the CBI in the case. Prasad allegedly invested heavy amounts in the business ventures of Jagan as a quid-pro-quo for the benefits he secured for Vanpic.
