Alcoholic Killed by Wife, Mother-in-law

VIZIANAGARAM: In a shocking incident, a person was allegedly set afire by his wife and his mother-in-law late Tuesday night at Vedullavalasa near Garividi in the district. The deceased is learnt to have tortured his wife who got vexed and killed him with the help of her mother.

According to Garividi sub-inspector S Krishna Varma, a daily labourer N Nagaraju (28) was an alcoholic and used to harass his wife Vijaya, both physically and mentally. Nagaraju was also jailed last year for attempting to kill Vijaya. But there is no change in the behaviour of the  accused even after he was bailed out and continued to harass his wife.

On Tuesday night, Nagaraju came home in an inebriated condition and tried to beat his wife. Unable to bear his torture, Vijaya along with her mother Simhachalam tied Nagaraju to a tree and set him on fire. Nagaraju died on the spot.

The Police took both the women into custody and investigation is on.
