VIJAYAWADA: PG medical counselling resumed at NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) Sunday after two days. The counselling relating to BC reservations categories was done Sunday. Over 250 seats were filled.

It may be recalled that the counselling which started Wednesday was stopped Friday and postponed for two days, following objections from Osmania University region students that they were being denied fair share in seats.

As the issue snowballed into a major hurdle in the PG Medical admissions process, the NTRUHS authorities held discussions with officials from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the objections raised by students Saturday. As officials from both regions were convinced that the counselling was being done transparently they agreed to resume it Sunday.

Though there was tension at NTRUHS premises Friday and Saturday with students expressing apprehensions and angst over the counselling process, order prevailed  Sunday with no sort of objections being raised by any student during the counselling, which continued till late night. With the counselling passing off peacefully on Sunday university officials heaved a sigh of relief. The counselling for reserved category seats will continue  Monday. Service category seats will be filled up on July 1 and 2.
