Uma Plans Bus Yatra to Inspect Irrigation Projects in AP

Express News Service

VIJAYAWADA:Irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has said that a bus yatra will be organised out to inspect irrigation projects after chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu returns from his visit to China.

Speaking to mediapersons after paying floral tributes to Jyotirao Phule on the occasion of the latter’s 188th birth anniversary here Saturday, Rao reiterated that the government was committed to completing the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS) in one year and brushed aside criticism by opposition parties as ‘talk of ignorance’. “I am going to embark on a two-day tour to inspect canal works related to Polavaram  and PLIS projects. I will make an overnight halt at the project site to encourage officials to strive for earlier completion of the project,” he said. PLIS works had picked up momentum following the directions of the CM to fast-track them.

“To overcome the problem, open auctioning is being conducted at Nunna mango market which is yielding good results,” he claimed.
