NTRUHS to Conduct Web-counselling for BPT, B.Sc Courses From December 17

Computer-based entrance test to be conducted for post-graduate medical courses from next year

VIJAYAWADA: Web counselling for admissions to BSc (Nursing), BSc Physiotherapy (BPT) and BSc (Medical Lab Technology) courses for the year 2015-16 will be conducted at three centres in Andhra Pradesh and two centres in Telangana from December 17 to 20.

Disclosing the details, here on Tuesday, NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) Dr. T Ravi Raju said for the first time, web counselling is being conducted by the University for admission to some of its courses.

“It will save lot of time and money of the candidate and at the same time would be more transparent and admissions could be done simultaneously for different colleges. A candidate attending the web counselling can exercise the web option the next day. A SMS will be sent of his admission status and later the same will be posted on the university website,” he explained.

During web counselling, certificates will be verified at three centres - Vijayawada (NTRUHS), Visakhapatnam (Andhra University) and Tirupati (Sri Venkateswara University) in Andhra Pradesh and at two centres - Hyderabad (JNTU Hyderabad) and Warangal (Kakatiya University) in Telangana.

There are 6,214 seats in 192 colleges for BSc (Nursing) a four year degree course, 1,127 seats in 45 colleges for BSc (MLIT) and 1,044 seats in 37 colleges for BPT in both the states.  Vice-Chancellor said that based on the response to the web counselling, they are contemplating to adopt the same method for admissions to other course except MBBS and Dental admissions.

He said they have successfully conducted computer-based entrance exams for all exams successfully and next year, entrance test for PG Medical Courses being offered by the university would be done in the same manner. It will be held either at the end of February or in the first week of March. “A week after the entrance of PG Medical and Super Speciality courses, computer based entrance test for PG dental sciences course would also be held,” he added.
