Land Allocated for Top End Institutes in AP

HYDERABAD:The State government has started the process of allocating lands to the national-level educational institutions sanctioned for AP, as per the State Reorganisation Act, so that own buildings could be constructed for the institutions.

They include the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Science Education Research (IISER).

The State government allocated 67.47 acres of land at Mallavaripalem village of Satyavedu mandal in Chittoor district for setting up of IIIT. Similarly, 27.40 acres of land in Dinnedevarapadu village in Kurnool district has been allocated for IIIT.

About 254.01 acres of land in Merlapaka village of Yerpedu mandal in Chittoor district has been earmarked for IISER and 563.51 acres of land in Merlapaka village of Yerpedu mandal in the district has been allocated for setting up IIT, Tirupati.

The State government exempted these institutions from payment of stamp duty and registration fee for registration of lands for setting up their campuses.

Union HRD minister Smriti Irani had laid the foundation stones for IISER, IIT and IIIT in last March.

The IIT, Tirupati already started functioning from August 5 in a temporary campus housed at Krishna Teja Educational Institutions in Chadalawada Nagar on the outskirts of the temple city.

IISER-Tirupati, which would be mentored by IISER Pune, will initially function from a temporary campus until the permanent one comes into existence. The IIIT is being set up at Sri city in Chittoor district.
