Bus services from Vizag to Chennai cancelled

VIJAYAWADA: In the wake of deterioration in the health condition of Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) turned to a wait-and-watch approach in operating buses to Chennai in a bid to avoid any untoward incidents.

The two bus services to Chennai from Vizag have been cancelled for the day while the buses from other places in the state are running to Chennai as per the schedule.

RTC Nellore regional manager Ravi Varma said that services are being continued without any interruption. RTC staff is deployed on special duties at Koyembedu bus station in Chennai to monitor the ground level situation.

APSRTC executive director (operation) G Jaya Rao told Express that they are monitoring the situation. A meeting was convened with RTC managing director M Malakondaiah on the issue and a decision will be taken on whether or not to suspend bus services to Chennai.
