AP rewards AG with a quantum pay hike

HYDERABAD: Hereafter, the state government will have  to pay Rs 1,50,000 to the Advocate General (AG) for his each appearance in the Supreme Court. Likewise, his retainer fee has been increased from the existing Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 per month. The state government on Thursday issued a notification in the extraordinary issue of the AP Gazette, amending relevant rules to give a quantum jump in the remuneration being paid to the AG. As per the amended rules, the AG will get a 'retainer' fee of Rs 50,000 per month, hereafter. He will also get conveyance allowance, in lieu of providing government vehicle, of Rs 25,000 per month. His fee for appearance in writ petitions, contempt cases, contempt appeals and other miscellaneous matters has been hiked to Rs 10,000 per appearance (limited to five appearances a day).

For attending the state Cabinet meetings or conferences in connection with the state's legal affairs, henceforth the concerned department will have to make all arrangements for travelling by air, accommodation and local conveyance for the AG. In case, for any reason, the AG, incurs the expenditure towards travelling and accommodation, the same will be reimbursed by the concerned department.
