EG to Get 39,000 New Jobs in Industrial Sector

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Thanks to the abundant resources and raw material, the industrial sector is showing signs of soaring up in East Godavari district. The Single Desk Clearance (SDS) system put in place by the District Industries Centre (DIC) is clearing the applications for setting up industries without much delay.

DIC general manager P Sudhakar said 602 applications were cleared out of 680 submitted under the SDS. All these applications have been received from April 2015, after the announcement of the SDS system. The applications are being cleared within 21 days.

He said the district topped the list of the districts in the State for clearing applications under the SDS. The district has also bagged first place by grounding as many as 41 out of 51 units sanctioned under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) for the year 2015-2016.

Meanwhile, 13 industries have entered into MoUs with the department at the partnership summit held in Vizag. They will generate as many as 39,000 jobs. He said there are 108 major and medium industries in the district with an investment of `18,869.69 crore. They are primarily in the fertilizers, gas, food processing, power plants and other sectors.
