Guntur hosts 9th International Poetry Festival

GUNTUR: The two-day ninth International Poetry Fest - 2016 saw poets from various parts of the country and the world converge at Guntur and unequivocally assert that peace is the most important thing in the world.  They said peace can strengthen human values, perpetuate relations, facilitate development and prevent wars.

At the valedictory held on Wednesday at the JKC College here, organisors P Gopichand and Naga Suseela said that poetry has the power to transform the society.

They announced that poetry festival would be held for three days next year, of which one day would be fully dedicated to young poets. They said efforts were on to invite Prime Minister and the Chief Minister for the next international poetry festival in 2017.

JKC College president K Basavapunnaiah said that poetry festival has got good response from the poets and exhorted the poets to work to achieve progress, development and for protecting women’s rights.
