HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s daughter-in-law Nara Brahmani, who till a few months ago had hinted at her possible entry into politics, on Saturday said she had no plans to take the political plunge. She said she wants to continue as a businesswoman by looking after their family-owned Heritage Foods.
“In the past two years, the revenue of Heritage Foods has almost doubled. Now, it has reached `2,600 crore from `1,600 crore. Our focus is to make our company reach `6,000 crore revenue by 2020,” she stated.
Though India is among the highest milk producers in the country, it also has the highest number of stunted children in the world due to malnutrition. This is the driving point for Brahmani, who is the executive director of Heritage Foods. As one who leads the day-to-day operations of the company, she shared that contributing to the health and development of the poor is priority.
She was speaking at FICCI Ladies Organisation’s meet along with her husband Lokesh, who is AP panchayat raj and IT minister. While the minister shared his vision for AP, Brahmani elaborated on the driving force behind her day-to-day operations of Heritage Foods for the last four years.
Pointing to the recent launch of Pi Data centre at the Mangalgiri IT Park in AP, Lokesh shared that his government is concentrating on its strengths which is smart and aspiring youngsters who will contribute to the state’s growth.
“I have been told that 30 per cent of the workforce across the country are Andhraites, not Telugus, but from Andhra. We call them Andhra-preneurs and as the state has great potential for designing and manufacturing, it is an asset,” he said. While great things are being done with the help of technology, Lokesh said he is looking to couple it with governance.
