Andhra Pradesh CM assures justice to AgriGold victims, enhances relief to Rs 5 lakhs

The government will give Rs 10 lakh reward to those providing information about the remaining accused, the chief minister said.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the government was committed to do justice to all victims of the AgriGold scam.

Despite the CID investigating the case, under the supervision of High Court, the government is taking it up in every Cabinet meeting and discussing on how to deliver justice to the victims without further delay.

Delivering statement over the AgriGold issue, the Chief Minister first announced that the government would give Rs 3 lakh to the families of those AgriGold victims, who committed suicide. But, later, he enhanced the same to Rs 5 lakh on the pretext that the government was also paying Rs 5 lakh to the family members of farmers who committed suicide.

Stating that the government was taking all steps for arresting all the accused in connection with the scam and also to confiscate assets belonging to the AgriGold firms, he said that the government will give Rs 10 lakh reward to those providing information about the remaining accused. Out of the 18 accused, the CID has so far arrested seven persons and the remaining are yet to be nabbed.

Assuring quick auctioning of the confiscated properties of AgriGold, he said that the government would first settle the claims of the small depositors and later of the remaining depositors. Naidu in the same breath appealed to people to desist from investing money aspiring to get good interest.
