Andhra IT Minister inaugurates Rs 500-crore hospital in Visakhapatnam

IT minister Nara Lokesh inaugurated the 850-bed GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) Hospital on the varsity campus here on Saturday.

VISAKHAPATNAM:  Panchayat raj, rural development and IT minister Nara Lokesh inaugurated the 850-bed GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) Hospital on the varsity campus here on Saturday. 


The hospital built at an estimated investment of `500 crore has the state-of-art facilities in terms of equipment and expertise.   


Lokesh visited the hospital and interacted with the patients too. 
Addressing the GITAM students, he said that the state government was making all efforts to develop the IT sector in Vizag and manufacturing industries in Rayalaseema. 


Appreciating the schemes offered for the poor, health minister Kamineni Srinivas said that the hospital would be a role model in the region. 


The hospital management launched ‘Pattabhishekam senior citizens complete health scheme’ for the elderly and ‘Savithri Prasootha Padhkam’ for pregnant women on the occasion. 


The GIMSR health cards and kits were also distributed to the beneficiaries by Lokesh.
Deputy chief minister N Chinarajappa, energy minister K Kala Venkata Rao, GITAM president MVVS Murthi and others were also present on the occasion.


As the Vizag has been adjudged as the third cleanest city in India during the recent Swachh Survekshn survey, Lokesh congratulated the district authorities on the achievement.
