GUNTUR: Thousands remembered the first social reformist of Andhra Pradesh Palnati Brahma Naidu at the Chapa Kudu programme in Karampudi of Guntur district on Sunday.

Brahma Naidu started the Chapa Kudu programme to eliminate caste differences by conducting a ‘mass feeding system’ where people from all sections sat together in floor mats to eat food.  

Thousands reached Veerula Gudi from different places of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to take part in the traditional festival in Karampudi.

On the first day on Friday, the participants hoisted the flag and on second day on Saturday, they prayed to Palnati Ayudalu and started procession with weapons in the temple. On third day on Sunday, a key ceremony, Chapa Kudu, was conducted at Palnati war ground.

Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu recalled the Chapa Kudu programme launched by Palnati Brahma Naidu during inauguration of the Nagara Vanam programme in Guntur on November 4.

TDP Macherla constituency leader K Chalama Reddy, Macherla market yard former chairman Yaganti Mallikharjuna Rao, Karampudi sarpanch S Yesu Ratnam and others participated in the programme.
