RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM:Officials from the Prohibition and Excise Department destroyed 7,814 kg of dry ganja that was seized during 62 raids conducted in East and West Godavari districts on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Excise Minister KS Jawahar said the department was determined to make the State free of ganja supply and cultivation. About 1.7 crore ganja plants were recently destroyed in Agency areas of East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts, he added.
More than 5,800 kg of ganja was seized in 47 raids conducted in East Godavari alone. Prohibition and Excise Commissioner Dr P Lakshmi Narasimhan and other officials of the department were present on the occasion.
