VIJAYAWADA: Expanding its strategic bilateral ties with Australia, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has signed four key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) spanning clean energy, advanced manufacturing, inclusive school education, student mental health, and workforce mobility.
Signed during a high-level visit by an Australian delegation led by Julian Hill, Assistant Minister for International Education, Citizenship, Customs, and Multicultural Affairs, the agreements align directly with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s economic reconstruction drive, positioning the State as a premier national destination for international institutional collaboration, advanced industrial research, and global investments.
The MoU signing ceremony took place on Sunday in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Minister for HRD, IT, and Electronics Nara Lokesh and Australian Minister Julian Hill. Prior to the formal signing of MoUs, the high-level Australian delegation called on the Chief Minister at his camp office in Undavalli to deliberate on long-term economic, industrial, and academic partnerships.

Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s growth trajectory, Naidu presented an expansive roadmap of the State’s economic transformation, emphasising its investor-friendly policies, infrastructure growth, and vast opportunities in green energy and advanced manufacturing.
Welcoming the visiting delegates, the Chief Minister felicitated Hill with a traditional ceremonial shawl, presenting him with organic Araku Valley coffee and a commemorative memento.
Leading the suite of agreements, the State’s Centre of Excellence for Energy Transition (CoEET) in Visakhapatnam, IIT Tirupati, and the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney—a top-20 globally ranked institution and a leader in photovoltaic research—entered into a landmark partnership to establish a specialised Centre of Excellence for Solar Manufacturing at IIT Tirupati.
The facility is the direct outcome of discussions initiated by Lokesh during his visit to Australia in October 2025. Focusing on solar PV manufacturing, panel recycling, circular economy practices, collaborative research, and laboratory development, the centre aims to create a strong talent pipeline of clean-energy engineers and researchers.
Speaking on the clean energy milestone, Lokesh said, “Andhra Pradesh is pursuing one of India’s most ambitious renewable energy programmes. Our vision goes beyond creating renewable energy capacity—we are building a complete ecosystem that combines advanced manufacturing, world-class research, innovation, and highly skilled talent. Our partnership with IIT Tirupati and UNSW will help establish Andhra Pradesh as a centre for clean energy innovation while preparing the next generation of engineers and entrepreneurs who will power India’s energy transition.”
Addressing inclusive growth within the foundational education sector, the second MoU was executed between UNSW, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV), and Samagra Shiksha, Andhra Pradesh. This initiative targets extensive capacity-building and professional training for primary and secondary school educators across the State, equipping teachers with specialised pedagogical tools.
