KAKINADA/RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: In the Panchayat Raj Assistant Engineer (AE) Nookaraju and his family suicide incident, Kakinada district police arrested accused Shaik Sadiq Khan in Delhi. Kakinada District Collector Harendhira Prasad confirmed the arrest on Saturday.
Rajahmundry and Sarpavaram police had been searching for Sadiq Khan since Monday after he fled Kakinada following the incident. Sources said he had been trying to secure anticipatory bail. The Collector directed HoDs to prioritise welfare and a healthy environment.
Third body retrieved from Godavari
East Godavari police on Saturday traced the body of Meena, wife of the AE, in the Godavari River near Mulasthanam in Alamuru area, completing recovery of all three bodies in the Nookaraju family suicide case.
Police said they would shift the body to Rajahmundry, where doctors would conduct a post-mortem examination on Sunday. They recovered Sowjanya’s body near Ravulapalem and Meena’s body near Mulasthanam on Saturday.
