VIJAYAWADA: In a major push toward agricultural value addition and crop diversification, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will jointly unveil the country’s first non-GMO popcorn maize hybrid seed at Katrenipadu in Musunuru mandal of Eluru district on Monday. The launch, organised by Gourmet Popcornica, aims to transform traditional farming into a high-yield, profitable venture.
Gourmet Popcornica currently collaborates with thousands of farmers cultivating popcorn maize across thousands of acres nationwide. The company’s facility in Musunuru has been established as one of Asia’s largest popcorn processing centres. Naidu will depart from his Camp Office at 9:55 AM and arrive at Katrenipadu by 10:15 AM.
He will join Governor S Abdul Nazeer at 10:45 AM to receive Vice President Radhakrishnan, following which all three dignitaries will participate in the official seed unveiling ceremony at 11:00 AM.
Naidu is scheduled to return to the Secretariat by 1:20 PM.
