VISAKHAPATNAM: The BRICS Sports Ministers’ Meeting concluded in Visakhapatnam on Sunday with member countries adopting by consensus the BRICS Sports Joint Declaration, committing to strengthen cooperation in sports through dialogue, mutual respect and inclusiveness.
Held under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026, the meeting brought together sports ministers and senior representatives of member countries to discuss cooperation in sports development, technology, manufacturing, athlete exchanges and inclusion.
In his opening remarks, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya called for a BRICS sporting partnership that would translate policy commitments into practical cooperation.
He proposed greater collaboration through athlete and coach exchanges, joint competitions and sharing of sports science and technology.
The minister also highlighted India’s efforts to strengthen its sports ecosystem and expand opportunities for athletes from the grassroots level to international competition.
