Man shot dead during robbery in Bihar; mob lynches two accused to death

According to preliminary reports, four suspects were caught in connection with the incident, two of whom were beaten to death by a mob, while the other two are in critical condition.

PATNA: A 32-year-old man was shot dead, and few others were injured during a robbery at a jewellery shop in Bihar’s Gopalganj district, following which an enraged mob thrashed two of the four accused to death in Lala Chhapar village under Bhore police station limits.

Sources said that armed criminals targeted a gold and silver jewellery shop in Lala Chhapar on Friday as criminals barged into the store and began looting the jewellery. When confronted by locals while attempting to flee after committing the crime, the perpetrators opened fire.

During the exchange of gunfire, Dablu Mishra, a resident of Sisai village, sustained a gunshot wound and died on the spot.

As the news of the death spread, villagers surrounded the fleeing criminals. Realising they were trapped, the criminals continued to fire, but the villagers overpowered two of the criminals and thrashed them with sticks, clubs, kicks and punches. Both criminals succumbed to their injuries on the spot.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Bhore police station team rushed to the scene. Police sent the three bodies to the Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

With the prevailing tension in the village, a heavy contingent of police personnel has been deployed in the area.

Senior police officials are actively investigating the case and are attempting to ascertain how many other members were involved in the criminal gang.
