BANGALORE: The second campus of Indian Institute of Science is likely to come up on 1,000 acres near Chitradurga. An IISc team visited the area recently and found the location ideal as it is adjacent to the DRPO complex.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has assured of all assistance to the IISc to set up its second campus in the state.

The other option the institute is considering is the controversial SEZ in Nandagudi. A final decision is expected by the month-end. To kick-off the centenary celebrations, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is visiting the Institute on December 3. Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari will release the first day cover at a function in Bangalore on December 14.

The special stamp has the main building of IISc along with some of the leading scientists who have been associated with the institute.
