BANGALORE: Following a report in The New Indian Express, the Home Minister’s private blog link-http:// drvsacharya@blogspot.com hosted on the Karnataka State police website www.ksp.gov.in, was removed on Saturday. The decision was taken following directions from the Election Commission, which had taken note of the Express report.

On Friday, The New Indian Express had reported in these columns, on how the official website of the police department had prominently hosted the link of the personal blog of Home Minister V S Acharya, who was using the space to vent his personal and political views.

On Friday, when the Election Commission’s attention was drawn towards this, Chief Electoral Officer M N Vidyashankar had said he would look into the issue and take an appropriate decision.

The Commission has taken serious note of it and informed the Home Secretary about its displeasure about Acharya’s personal blog being hosted www.ksp.gov.in, sources said.

According to sources, director general of police Dr Ajaykumar Singh has asked his officials to delete the blog’s link from the official website on Friday, sources added.
