HAVERI:  Tahsildar Mohamad Jubera was reportedly attacked and manhandled by a mob at Belur village in Ranebennur taluk when he tried to seize a motorboat which was lifting sand illegally on Tuesday evening.

Superintendent of Police Chandragupta told Express that a complaint was filed in Ranebennur Rural Police station, but no one was arrested. "A mob manhandled the tahsildar at Belur village. It is a small incident. It happened during a routine check by the Revenue Department to thwart illegal sand mining. However, additional police force has been deployed in the village. The situation is now under control," he said.

It is learnt that Mohamad Jubera visited the spot following a complaint by Belur villagers.
