BANGALORE: The JD(S) on Sunday released fresh documents that indicate Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and his kin received monetary benefits worth about Rs 13 crore from two property developers in exchange of land.

JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy alleged that Adarsh Developers had paid Rs 8 crore to the firms owned by Yeddyurappa's kin and to Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje. Kumaraswamy said the developer paid the sum to reciprocate Yeddyurappa's act of favouring the company in land allotment.

Kumaraswamy further alleged that another developer Property Group had bought three properties in Shimoga for Yeddyurappa's family at a cost of Rs 3 crore. He said for "illegal gratification", Yeddyurappa allotted 17.5 acres to the group near Whitefield, 25 acres in Shimoga, 28 acres near Bangalore International Airport and 6.16 acres in Bangalore East taluk. The JD(S) leader said all the land had been taken up to set IT parks. He said instead of the tech parks, the developer built highend villas.

He claimed that Yeddyurappa had favoured Property Group, which now owns about 1,000 acres valued at Rs 2,000 crore.

Also, the former chief minister said Yeddyurappa had entered into a fictitious agreement with Adarsh Developers.

He said Yeddyurappa leased his own house on rent to the company and secured Rs 50 lakh as advance even though he continues to live there.

Kumaraswamy said Yeddyurappa had shown the details of this agreement in his submission before Lokayukta.

Also, Kumaraswamy accused Yeddyurappa of buying about 14.14 acres of agricultural land in Shimoga district, violating provisions of Karnataka Land Reforms Act.

He charged that another firm, floated by former housing minister S N Krishnaiah Setty, paid Rs 5 crore by cheque to firms owned by Yeddyurappa's kin to get allotment of lands and issue orders for change of land use from agriculture to nonagriculture purposes.

Questioning the silence of BJP national high command over Yeddyurappa's deeds, Kumaraswamy wondered if Yeddyurappa was in the top brass' good books. "Is there any tacit understanding between some BJP leaders and Yeddyurappa to forge cooperation?" he said.
