MYSORE: All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysore campus, will soon be developed as Centre for Excellence, to contribute in the area of speech and hearing disability, said Keshav Desiraju, additional secretary, Central Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

He was speaking after laying foundation stone for knowledge park on AIISH campus on Wednesday. He said that the process in this regard should be stepped up as Mysore campus deserved it. He said the implementation of knowledge park project is a prestigious one to the Ministry of Health.

He regretted that the nation had made very little use of these premier and prestigious institutions, as wellqualified graduates were not available for service.

Though some graduates in the area of health services don’t get better jobs with the government, he said that AIISH should produce high quality professionals and should get the posts created for speech and hearing graduates from Primary Health Centre level.

He said that the goal should be to extend services wherever needed.

The knowledge park will have a seminar hall, class rooms and mini library with 400 seats’ capacity and audio visual facility, he gave details.
