Didn’t expect seven gold medals, says VTU topper

Abhinav Rao (BE in Electrical and Electronics) of Bangalore Institute of Technology, who secured seven gold medals, prefers to join IIT-Chennai for higher studies.

He told Express that his second preference is to go to either Europe or American continent for higher studies in Electrical and Electronics. Abhinav said that he never bunked the classes, used to listen to the teachers in classes carefully and with peace of mind. He said that he studied seriously when the examinations were nearing. Though Abhinav thought that he may win one or two medals through high score, he never expected that he would bag seven golds. He said that he was the happiest person for fulfilling the dreams of his parents.

Phalguna P (Electronics and Communications) of R N Shetty Institute of Technology-Bangalore, who bagged six gold medals, wants to do M Tech. His parents are working in banks. “Receiving the medals from Governor Hansraj Bharadwaj was a memorable moment in my life,” he said.

Shantanu Chakraborthy (Civil) of M V Jayaram College of Engineering-Bangalore, who bagged five gold medals, said that he was happy for becoming the fifth civil engineer in his family. Chakraborthy, who hails from West Bengal, said that he will opt teaching profession.
