Narayan’s last rites performed

The funeral of R T Narayan, industrialist and foster father of actress Ramya, who died of cardiac arrest outside the Mandya Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday after filing of Ramya’s nomination, was held at the Chirasahnathi Dhama of Gokulam crematorium on Sunday.

Former chief minister S M Krishna, Prema Krishna, KPCC president G Parameshwara and others paid their last respects to the departed soul.

Narayan had adopted Ramya at a very young age and encouraged her to work in films. He also inspired her to join politics and got her the Congress ticket to contest the byelections from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency.

Krishna said he was saddened by the death of a four-decade-old friend.

District Minister V Srinivasa Prasad, Housing Minister M H Ambareesh, former minister D K Shiva Kumar, P M Narendraswamy, H S Mahadeva Prasad, M Mahadev, M Shivanna, Athmananda, MP A H Vishwanath, former MP G Made Gowda, MLA Vasu, former legislators D Made Gowda, K B Chandrashekar, actress Radhika and others visited Narayan’s house at Vontikoppal in Mysore to pay their condolences. Ramya and her relatives refused to speak to the media maintaining that it was their family affair.
