The government will go ahead with the resurvey of land across the state and is committed to reclaim the public land encroached in the region, Revenue Minister V Srinivasa Prasad said on Wednesday.
He was speaking to reporters after greeting Mysore Bishop Thomas Anthony Vazhapilly on account of Christmas.
“The Hyderabad-Karnataka, Mumbai-Karnataka, Old Mysore and Karavali regions have been selected for the resurvey of land in the first phase. Modern technology will be used for the survey. In two years, the survey will be completed across the state. With this, problems related to land encroachment will end,” he said.
To check the increasing land encroachment, resurvey of land will be conducted and the expenditure will be borne by the Central government, he said.
He added that retired IAS officers will be appointed soon for inquiry on land encroachment at Kurubarhalli Survey No 4 in Mysore and the alleged land encroachment at Sathegala in Chamarajanagar district.
Eleven Acres Encroached
“The A T Ramaswamy committee report on encroachment of government land says one lakh acres has been encroached in Bangalore. Based on the report, a task force committee was formed under the chairmanship of Dr Balasubramanyam Swamy to reclaim the public land encroached across the state. As per the report submitted by task force, 11 lakh acres of government land has been encroached in the state. At present, the task force is not functioning and the government is planning to reclaim the land, for which a committee will be constituted.
Hiremath has demanded that the government take action against allofficials involved in encroaching land.
