As a new year gift, President Pranab Mukherjee gave his assent to the bill on Amendment to Article 371 (J) of the Constitution for Gulbarga Revenue Division comprising of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary districts.

Mukherjee put his signature to the Amendment Bill of Article 371 (J) model on January 1 itself and returned it to the Home Department for action, said Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge speaking to Express over phone from New Delhi.

The Home Department would issue the notification and send it to Karnataka for framing rules and regulations for implementing Amendment to Article 371 of the Constitution.

After both houses of the Karnataka Legislature pass the rules and regulations, it would be sent to President again and after his assent, it would come into force, Kharge said.
