Hemashree murder: Driver’s bail rejected

Express News Service

The High Court rejected a bail petition filed by Sathish, a car driver and the second accused in actress Hemashree’s murder case.

Hearing both the parties, Justice Anand Byrareddy denied him the bail as there was a prima facie evidence against him.

Counsel representing accused Sathish said the police had already filed a chargesheet against him and that there was no chance of him tampering with the evidence.

The public prosecutor said that soon after the murder, Sathish was absconding for nearly 18 days and even got rid of his mobile phone. Even though he was driving the car while Surendra Babu administered chloroform  toHemashree, he did not cooperate in the investigation by withholding information.

“At this stage, if he (Sathishi) is granted bail, there are chances of him absconding again and this will affect the investigation of the case,”  he said.
