State home inmate ties the knot

The State Home for Women, a government orphanage in the city, wore a festive look on Friday as one of its inmates tied the knot with a Brahmin boy.

Prasannakumar Kulkarni of Surpur town in Yadgir district, working with a private mobile operator, married Savitri.

The home provided Rs 5,000 for marriage expenses and would deposit Rs15,000 in a joint account of the couple for two years. Superintendent of the State Home for Women Draupati K Naik and staff Shobha, Sharanamma and Shweta were present.

The State Home for Women witnessed eight marriages of its inmates so far.
