Model schools on the lines of Delhi Public School (DPS) will be opened in all big cities in the state for children of labourers, particularly construction workers.
Labour Minister Parameshwar Naik said 13 model schools will be set up in city corporations at a cost of around `15-20 crore each.
The process of identifying and purchasing land is on. Two such schools will be set up in Bangalore, the minister said.
The Labour Department will also set up 120 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state this year to boost vocational education and skill development, the minister said.
The Union government will fund the setting up of 20 ITIs, while the rest by the state government, Naik said.
The Labour Department has also decided to temporarily outsource jobs of Group C and D categories in hospitals run by the Employees State Insurance Corporation.
In all, there are 713 vacancies in Group C and D categories in ESI hospitals in the state, the minister said.
