Express News Service

DHARWAD: S R Hiremath of the Samaj Parivartana Samudaya has accused the state government of inaction against Adichunchanagiri Mutt over an alleged land grab case.

He told reporters on Sunday that the mutt and principal Puttaraju of SJB College in Kengeri, who had encroached over seven acres in Turahalli forest area between 2004 and 2006, have again encroached forest land. He said the mutt had stated that it would vacate the land.

E ven the court of the Conservator of Forests, Bangalore Circle, had directed the seer and Puttaraju in 2009 to vacate the encroached forest land within 30 days. Instead, they have encroached more and the government is keeping mum, he alleged.
