Express News Service

BENGALURU:  The High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the SIT probing the allegations of corruption in the Lokayukta. The notice was ordered on a bail petition filed by Syed Riyaz, suspended Lokayukta PRO.

Riyaz had filed the petition before the HC as the Lokayukta special court dismissed his bail plea recently. Justice Narayanaswamy adjourned the matter for one week.

Riyaz’s counsel contended that there were no charges of serious offences against Riyaz in the FIR filed based on a complaint by M N Krishna Murthy, Executive Engineer, Bengaluru Urban ZP.

Offences that Riyaz has been charged with are of a bailable nature. His health condition needs specialised treatment, hence, bail should be granted, he argued.
