Aero India 2015: Flights at KIA to be Rescheduled

Express News Service

BENGALURU: Flight operations at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will be affected between February 10 and 22 owing to restrictions on air space due to Aero India 2015.

The Air Force station, Yelahanka, will host the biennial air show from February 18 to 22.

Aircraft operations would be stopped between 12.30 pm to 3 pm (from February 10 to 16) as participants will be practicing at the Air Force Station, stated a release issued by the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) on Thursday.

On the first day of the show (February 18), aircraft operations at KIA would be stopped from 9 am to 12 noon and again from 2 pm to 3 pm. From February 19 to 22, aircraft operations would be stopped from 10 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 5 pm.

“Airlines with scheduled aircraft operations that will be impacted during this period have received communication on the reduced operating hours,” the release stated.  “Passenger convenience will be ensured with the respective airlines sharing timely communication on the change in airport operations and the cancelled/revised flight timings during the Aero India show,” the release added.

BIAL said ancillary support by airport taxi and bus service providers will be aligned to accommodate the increase in anticipated traffic on main airport road (NH 7) resulting in increased commute times for passengers flying out of the airport.
