Drunk Nigerian Stabs Ugandan Woman At Restaurant

After his request to buy a drink for him was turned down, the Nigerian, Onsar, assaulted the woman, Shakira, followed her to the vehicle and stabbed her before fleeing

BENGALURU: A 30-year-old Ugandan woman was allegedly stabbed by a Nigerian on Wednesday. It came to light only on Sunday after the victim approached the Hennur police.

According to police, the complainant, Shakira, a Ugandan national who is residing at Kukkenahalli, Banjara Layout, was with her friend Gifletin in the ‘African Kitchen’, a restaurant, on Wednesday night for dinner. Both Shakira and her friend were having drinks around 10 pm when the accused, Onsar, too came there. After having a couple of drinks, he asked Shakira to buy some drinks for him. When she questioned him, he pushed  and slapped her. Later, Joy, working at the restaurant, controlled the situation by locking up Shakira in a room, the police said.

Meanwhile, Shakira informed  her boyfriend, Tony, about the incident over phone. After a while, she came out walked to her vehicle which was parked outside the hotel. Onsar too came out, pushed Shakira again and stabbed her with a knife and fled the spot, according to the complaint. Shakira sustained injuries.

By then, Tony, who had come to the spot, shifted Shakira to an hospital in Kammanahalli and later to Ramaiah hospital for further treatment with the help of Gifletin.

The complaint was registered only when, Onsar, who had promised to meet Shakira’s medical expenses, backed out.

Papers Not In Order

The police said, “Shakira claimed to be on a business visa in India. However, when we asked her to produce the visa and passport, she said that she had lost them. We are contacting the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) on Monday to get more details about the accused as well as the complainant.”

They added, “There were no crime records of Onsar or Shakira in Hennur police station. However, we are also gathering information from other police stations. We are yet to know about the Onsar’s stay in India.”

A case has been registered under IPC 324. The accused is at large.

Meanwhile, some mischief-makers attempted to spread a message that some locals had assaulted Shakira. Soon police officials swung into action and made it clear that locals were not involved in the assault.
