Bajrang Dal man held for kidnap, extortion

BENGALURU: THE CID sleuths have arrested one person in connection with the kidnap and extortion case, on Saturday. Chikamagalur DySP Kallappa Handibag allegedly committed suicide due to his links with the case.

The accused has been identified as Pradeep, a state committee member of Bajrang Dal, a militant Hindu organisation. Pradeep was also running a canteen in Chikamagalur.

Police said, “Pradeep had helped the kidnappers in executing kidnap and extortion. He will be produced before the Chikamagalur magistrate on Sunday.”

This is the first arrest by the CID in this case. Police said, “We have formed teams to manhunt Praveen Khandya and his associates, mainly Naveen Shetty and Abhiram.”
