1 judge retires, HC strength down to 26

BENGALURU: The strength of judges in the Karnataka High Court came down to 26 as against the sanctioned strength of 62 with the transfer of Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar as to the Kerala High Court. The High Court as well as the Advocates’ Association of Bengaluru on Monday gave farewell to Justice Shantanagoudar.

Born on May 5, 1958, Shantanagoudar enrolled as an Advocate in 1980. He practised for one year at Dharwad and then shifted to Bengaluru.

He served as the vice-chairman of Karnataka State Bar Council from 1991 to 1993. He delivered judgments in 46,000 cases during his 13-year tenure in Karnataka.
