Express News Service

BENGALURU: Accusing the Siddaramaiah government of total apathy and callousness in mitigating the suffering of drought-affected people, the BJP has urged Governor Vajubhai Vala to ‘whip the Siddaramaiah government out of deep slumber.’

A delegation of BJP leaders led by party state president B S Yeddyurappa submitted a report to the Governor on Tuesday. The report was prepared by the BJP leaders, who toured the drought-affected areas of the state in 12 teams.

BJP leaders have demanded waiver of farm loans with interest for all farmers in the drought-affected areas, supply of free seeds and fertilizers for the coming monsoon season and immediate measures for setting up Goshalas(cattle shelters).

The delegation accused the Siddaramaiah government of failure in utilising the `2,575 cr central assistance for drought relief works. “Not even 25 per cent of the funds has been utilised by the Siddaramaiah government, which is blaming the Union government to cover up its own failures in taking up drought relief works,” Yeddyurappa told reporters.
