MYSURU: Congress leader and North West Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation director Manoj Karjagi was arrested by the police while he was traveling with cash to the tune of Rs 20 lakh in his car at the poll-bound Gundlupet town.

Bundles of Rs 2000 denominations notes, estimated to be around Rs 20 lakh were found in his car that had a 'Government of Karnataka' signboard. Police while questioning Manoj, have also found a voter list of Gundlupet taluk.

According to the police, he also failed to give a convincing reply regarding the source of money and maintained that he was proceeding towards a resort in Bandipur.

Meanwhile, the BJP workers staged a protest in Gundlupet accusing that the cops have failed to act on another Congress worker who was caught red handed while distributing Rs 4 lakh near Kelissur.
They alleged that the cops maintained that only Rs 12 thousand recovered from the Congressman.

The incident comes a day after KPCC Women's wing president Lakshmi Hebbalkar was caught on camera with a bundle of Rs 2000 notes in hand. Meanwhile, BJP has urged the election commission to take action against Hebbalkar.
