ANTHUR:The alien story is getting curiouser and curiouser. On Wednesday night, some villagers of Anthur who were going by a bus claimed that they had seen a mysterious creature. It now transpires that it was not the passengers, but the driver who is the sole eye-witness.

“It was around 8 on Wednesday night. A white creature of about 7-8 ft tall with big hands and legs hopped across the road from left to right when the bus was passing near Anthur in Gadag district. I slowed down the bus and informed the conductor and passengers. They refused to stay and asked me to hurry,” said Shivayya Gavimath, the driver of NWKRTC bus, that was plying between Annigeri and Lakshmeshwar.
“Later, when I informed the villagers, they went to the area to check and informed me that they found some footprints,” he said.

Forest officials confirmed that about 100 new sets of footprints have been found in the area where the driver was said to have sighted the creature. “The distance between footprints this time is more than five feet and the pattern is  different from those found in the fields on Sunday. The photographs of the footprints will be sent for analysis,” said a forest official. “We will also increase vigil around Anthur and Benthur villages, in case some mischief mongers are on the prowl,” he  added.
