BENGALURU: Bengaluru Development minister K J George on Wednesday files a criminal defamation case against Times Now and a former editor in chief of Times Now for allegedly airing false news and statements following the death of IAS officer D K Ravi in 2015.

George was present at the hearing at the 10th Additional District Magistrate Court on Wednesday. After the hearing, he said that though the news was aired in 2015, he filed the complaint almost two years later as he was waiting for the CBI probe to conclude.

According to the complaint, sly and blatantly false innuendoes and statements were made by Arnab Goswami on Times Now Super Prime Time. The statements were false, malicious and were a defamatory campaign and propaganda to insinuate KJ George of having a vested interest in Ravi’s death, George alleged.

An FIR was filed at the Jeevan Bima Nagar Police Station, after which the complaint was submitted to the Magistrate Court.
